| JON's fascination for classic cars comes alive in his music. This CD is dedicated to the early history of Nashville, TN and the songs and culture that made Nashville famous before it became "Music City USA". A selection of the tunes on this CD were popular during the years before and after the period that the Marathon Motor Works was manufacturing automobiles in Nashville from 1910 to 1914. The pop and country tunes recorded on the CD became great ragtime, country and popular hits that ushered in the days when Nashville was considered tops in the recording industry. And, of course, JON Weaver III included a selection of his ragtime compositions to reflect the history, times, and era, as well as his expertise in "Ragtime Piano".

About the Artist
JON Weaver III has been performing since age 4 in the Nashville, Tennessee and surrounding area. He performed with his own group for many years in venues throughout the Middle Tennessee area. Due the recent big demand for nostalgic tunes, JON has chosen a repertoire of songs by Charles Hunter, Thomas Broady and other early Nashville writers with emphasis on Nashville, Tennessee and its musical developement. JON personifies this era and his interest in the happy, frolicking, syncopated rhythms of the ragtime idiom. The recordings are designed to give the listener a sample of the unrecorded sounds of the early TWENTIETH CENTURY music that later led to the early jazz and songs of TIN PAN ALLEY. |
